 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.  How far do you travel for games?

Most games are against local travel clubs (West Seneca, Orchard Park, Amherst, Aurora, Ken-Ton, Cheektowaga, Lancaster), typically within a 35-mile radius. Occasionally, a game may be in Niagara County.

Q.  What is the commitment for travel soccer?

The travel season can begin in January and ends at the end of July/beginning of August. Some Indoor training is held in local school gyms. The practice schedule is determined by the coach; some teams may practice one to several times a week. Some teams may opt to join a winter indoor league for additional play or enter into a weekend tournament during the summer (additional cost). The outdoor league season starts the first week in May and ends at the end of July.

Q. Can I request a coach, team or friends to play with?

No, requests cannot be made. Each player tryouts at their birth year. After reviewing players skill level and looking at registration numbers the board assigns age groups for the season. The Tri-Town Board and the tryout evaluators will then assign coaches and players to each team. Most teams consist of back to back birth year grouping.

Q.  Does my player have to be at every practice and game?

Every effort should be made to attend all practices and games. It is unfair to the other team members and coaches who have put in the time for practice and preparation if your player does not do the same.

Q.  How much does it cost?

The registration  fees are $180. The registration fee includes: player insurance, league fee, referee costs, some indoor training, and field usage fee. (Additional fees for indoor play and tournaments (determined by coach)). Uniforms will be an additional $90 and can be reused for following years.

Q.  Why do I have to pay ahead of time? What if my player does not make the team?

Your child must be registered to try out. Payment confirms your commitment to a travel team. If your player does not make a team, a full refund is given.

Q.  How many games are played in the season?

All ages will play 10 league games. All league games start at 6:45 pm.

Each age group has a designated day of the week for league games:

Mondays: U13 and U19 boys; U12 and U16 girls

Tuesdays: U11 and U16 boys; U13 and U19 girls

Wednesdays: U8, U14 and U17 boys; U8, U11 and U15 girls

Q.  How old does my child need to be for tryouts?

Children who are born in 2015 and older are welcome to try out.

Q.  What does my player need for tryouts?

Your player should wear shin guards and bring a soccer ball and water bottle. Tryouts are held rain or shine.

Q.  When will I find out if my player made the team?
